What Your Support Makes Possible
Pathways of Hope – Grief support services through Pathways of Hope are available at no cost to anyone in our service area who has lost a loved one, regardless of whether hospice care has been provided by The Hospice of Dayton or The Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. Group and individual counseling is available for children and adults in a variety of community locations, to make services more convenient and accessible. Children's programs, including Camp Pathways and Healing Pathways community counseling outreach, rely completely on donor support.
Indigent Care – – Both The Hospice of Dayton and The Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties provide care for all hospice eligible patients regardless of his or her ability to pay. As the Miami Valley economy has declined in recent years, more and more families have suffered the loss of manufacturing jobs, increased unemployment, loss of insurance coverage and benefits. More and more patients need hospice care but do not have means to pay for needed services. Donations assure that The Hospice of Dayton and The Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties can continue to provide indigent care to those in need.
HOPE Fund – Your financial support can be used to help address the basic life needs of hospice patients and families through the The Hospice of Dayton HOPE Fund. Regardless of whether the patient is being serviced by The Hospice of Dayton or The Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties, this fund assists patients and their families providing comfort beyond medical needs. With this fund, dollars will be disbursed immediately for the urgent needs including utilities, air conditioners/fans, bus transportation, groceries, dentures, eyeglasses, telephone minutes, warm clothes and blankets.
Focused Care – Donor dollars enable us to provide Focused Care, highly specialized disease-specific treatment for patients. The caliber of our Focused Care professionals assures the most advanced clinical treatments for patients from specialists in oncology, cardiology, pulmonary and gerontology.
Open Access – The Hospice of Dayton and The Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties admit patients regardless of treatment choice. We accept patients who opt for palliative chemo and radiation therapies, tube feedings, intravenous medications, blood transfusions, and other therapies. The community support we receive enables us to provide equal access to all our services regardless of insurance coverage or ability to pay.
Staff and Community Education – Our in-house Educational Resource Center provides the tools necessary to advance the clinical skills and knowledge of our staff. We offer community education programs at local senior centers, recreation centers, senior housing complexes to emphasize the importance of end-of-life planning. We provide education to physicians, physician office staff, hospitals and extended care facilities and to community organizations such as the Miami Valley Alzheimer's Association, GraceWorks and the Dayton Area Almytrophic Lateral Sclerosis/Lou Gehtrig's Disease Support Group.
Home Health Aide/Support – We provide more home health aide/homemaker services than any other hospice. We tailor our home health aide and homemaker services to meet the needs of individual patients and have more State Certified home health aides on staff than any other hospice in the region.
Presence at time of death – Our goal is to assure that each patient does not die alone. We are committed to having hospice care providers at the bedside at the time of death. This commitment requires significant training and staffing to assure we meet the needs of patients and families.
