Executive Management Team

Deborah Dailey, President/CEO
Deborah S. Dailey has been involved in hospice care for 30 years and is a nationally recognized expert in hospice operations. Deborah has been involved in promoting hospice care nationally and is a founding member of the National Hospice Work Group and the North Carolina Hospice Work Group. Prior to joining The Hospice of Dayton, Deborah served as President/CEO of Ashland Community Hospice in Ashland, Kentucky; Hospice of Winston-Salem in North Carolina; Hospice of Palm Beach County in West Palm Beach, Florida and as Vice President of Operations for Vista-Care, Inc. She also served as President of the Kentucky Association of Hospices and is an affiliate member of the American College of Health Care Executives. Her expertise in operations and management of hospice programs has made her a sought after speaker and consultant to other hospice programs throughout the United States. Deborah received her Master's degree in Business Administration from Wake Forest University and has completed studies in International Business at Oxford University, Oxford, England.

Mary Murphy, RN, MS, AOCN, CHPN
Vice President of Clinical Operations at Hospice of Dayton.

Mary has twenty years of experience with The Hospice of Dayton, most recently serving as Director of Clinical Systems overseeing the Focused Care and Palliative Care Programs. She joined the organization in 1989 as a nurse after several years of experience in oncology nursing at Miami Valley Hospital. Murphy has contributed numerous articles to clinical publications and has served as a presenter for the Ohio Hospice and Palliative Care Organization as well as the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. She serves as President of the West Central Ohio Oncology Nursing Society and is a member of the National Oncology Nursing Society. Her clinical expertise in hospice care has earned her honors as the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization Heart of Hospice Excellence in Management recipient in 2001. She has also earned recognition as the Ohio Hospice and Palliative Care Organization Hospice Caregiver of the Year (2001); Hospice and Palliative Nursing Association Innovations in End of Life Care Award (2004); Ohio Nursing Association Award of Excellence in Ed of Life Care (2006); and the Outstanding Alumna of the College of Nursing at Wright State University (2007).

Jerry Durst, Chief Financial Officer
Jerry joined The Hospice of Dayton as Director of Finance in September of 2004 and was named CFO in 2006. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Accounting/Finance from Wright State University in 1991 and a Master's in Business Administration from University of Cincinnati in 2003. Prior to joining The Hospice of Dayton, Jerry was the CFO of Hospice of Cincinnati, a wholly owned subsidiary in the TriHealth system, and served 10 years in home health financial management.

Vicky Forrest, Vice President for Community Relations
Vicky served as Director of Communications prior to being named Vice President for Community Relations in 2007. Her background includes experience in public relations and media management with Mercy Health System-Western Ohio and in special events and marketing for Cox Radio, Inc. in Dayton. Vicky began her career in media journalism as a news reporter and anchor in the Springfield, Dayton and Columbus markets. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Urbana University.

Brenda Humfleet, Vice President of Hospice of Dayton/President of HOD Foundation
Since establishing a development program at Hospice of Dayton in 1997, Brenda has generated nearly $52 million in gross revenue, increasing the board-designated endowment fund from $100,000 in 1997 to nearly $28 million. She currently serves on a number of community boards, is a member of the Oakwood Rotary and is a graduate of the Leadership Dayton Class of 2004. Brenda has been honored as the "Outstanding Fundraising Executive" by the Dayton Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and received two Bronze Quill Awards for excellence in communication from the International Association of Business Communications.

Jules Sherman, DO, Chief Medical Director
Jules Sherman, D.O., F.A.C.O.I., has served as a Medical Director of The Hospice of Dayton since 1984 and as Clinical Medical Director of the 51-bed Hospice of Dayton Care Center since 2002. He specialized in the practice of Medical Oncology from 1979 to 2002. Dr. Sherman is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology as well as Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists. He is a past President of the Dayton District Academy of Osteopathic Medicine.

Amy Wagner, Vice President of Administration
Amy joined The Hospice of Dayton staff as Human Resources Manager in June 2003 and was named Vice President of Administration in 2006. She also serves as the Compliance Officer. Amy earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management from Wright State University and began her career as a Human Resources Generalist for MTC, a government contractor. Amy then served as Human Resources Manager for Central Printing Company for 9 years before joining The Hospice of Dayton.
